Brief Biography:

Prof. Pulakes Purkait is an academician, scholar of translational research and entrepreneur. He established many premier institute, diagnostic & research laboratory, reproductive technology tools & techniques, founder-HOD of many academic departments. He is also a board member and Life member in different reputed organization.
Prof. Purkait is a Reproductive Geneticist. He obtained his post-graduation degree in Biological Anthropology from Vidyasagar University, WB and completed his doctoral research in Clinical Molecular Anthropology from Andhra University, Vishakhapatnam. Prof. Purkait completed his post-doctoral research work “Epigenetic on metabolic diseases and fetal origin hypothesis” from Panjab University, Chandigarh.
Prof. Purkait has more than 15 years of research and teaching experience in Molecular and Medical Genetics. He is a research supervisor and research committee member of different universities and he has supervised more than 50 students at M.Sc. and Ph.D. levels.
As a core member he has worked on many projects related to Genetics of Chronic Diseases; DNA polymorphism and Disease genes; Genetics of Type 2 diabetes, Kidney diseases, Thalassemia, Breast Cancer; Phylogeny of Indian Population; Bio-cultural Diversity, Environment and Sustainable development and Bio-Cultural Adaptation etc., during his Junior and Senior Research Fellowship tenure in Anthropological Survey of India (Govt. of India).
Over the last few years, he has been working among different communities across India. With over a decade of experience in anthropological research, he has contributed to the scientific world at his best. All his research work has come to the light in form of 14 patent, 30 international research articles, 3 book chapters, 1 Book, 14 national and international conferences and invited talks, published in various journals of repute with an international index and many more to come.
